KGB General
To bring the KGB generals to the surface again (this uniform caused quite some discussion here some time ago) - The photo is taken by me in a shop in Tallinn, Estonia in July this year, where this set is being sold for modest 12.000 EUR (not a joke!). The shopkeeper said it belonged to a KGB general named Jakovenko.
It is not my uniform, I have just taken the pic during my last visit there. I dont want to discuss this uniform further, I just want to show you what I have seen. /Patrik Last edited by Tretov; 10-06-2003 at 03:25 PM. |

The uniform is a definate fake. The cap as mentioned by Doug was discussed in a recent thread.
Nice medal grouping but there are a few mistakes, the medal From the "Grateful People of Afghanistan" and the medal next to it should be positioned below the main medal grouping and not about as it is positioned.

I can state for a fact that there are a few types of GENUINE royal blue state security uniforms with boards. But they are not really KGB and are not like the ones shown here.
First is the M43 uniform which was used until 1955 (just after the creation of the KGB). Of course they use different shaped (6-sided) boards. These are unquestionably genuine and I own one. They were used by NKVD, NKGB, MGB, and for a few months in 1954-55, KGB. Then there are post-Soviet uniforms of the FSB. I have personally seen a serving FSB major-general wearing a uniform with royal blue trimmed boards, but again they are of a different shape. Finally, you can buy these M69 fakes, boards or uniforms, from Ukraine today. Shawn |
