Medal "For Labour Valour".

Hello, Gentlemen.
I have included some photos of a type 2, var. 1 with the stamped large 'No' and hand-engraved serial number. Enamel is perfect, yet the medal is really worn. Could the enamel be a restoration job? Please take a look and let me know what you think of it. Thanks in advance.

:) Robert

I think not

There are very nice enamel on these medals. Thick aand good. They are not combat medals so the person who owned it never had to put their head in the mud like the soldiers. I have seen many of those medals and they usually have great enamel. It fills out to the rim of the star very well so if it should be reenameled it has to have been done at the mint but i think it´s the original enamel.

Robert,

It looks fine. In most cases it doesn't make sence to re-enamel a medal like this. This is a $30-$50 medal, to re-enamel a medal would cost substatially more hence not cost effective.

Medal "For Labour Valour".

Dear Gentlemen,

please tell me your opinions abt this medal. I think it's OK, but these medals are heavily faked and because of that it's always good to hear opinions from other people too. Hard to find these numbered medals today...what u think is reasonable price level for this medal with doc and box ?

Bes regards,

Lauri

Lauri,

I have doubts about the medal. The numbered one of this type all have the star touching the rim on the obverse. I would not be surprized if this medal was in fact a regular unnumbered one to which someone engraved the serial number corresponding to the one in the Order Book.
Also, I believe that the ring should be soldered, whereas it seems to be struck as far as I can tell from the scans.

Lauri,

I personally still have doubts about this medal. If genuine, I think that it is probably worth around $70.

Lauri,

The problem is not the price. There are questions about authenticity...

If you can provide a large scan of the obverse (head on, not angle) without the suspension we'll be able to give you a better oppinion.

Rusty.
