BIG USSR medal-bar

I've got this great Soviet monster-medal-bar from ebay.

Order of the October Revolution (Serial-No.: 100712)
Order of the Red Banner of Labor (345890)
Order of the Red Banner of Labor (151142)
Order of the Badge of Honor (612216)
Medal for Distinguished Work
Medal for heroic work during WWII
Medal "Veteran of Labor"
Medal "1500 years of Kiev"

I suspect the owner was a scientist or something like that; maybe a woman...?!?
Any other opinions?

This may not have belonged to the same person... There are many reasons to list why, however several that jump out at me are:

a) I have never seen an Order of October Revolution on any multi-suspentions. Keep in mind that this was one of the highest civilian awards! So naturally I would think that it would be worn separately (with pride!)

b) Why would the "bearer" mount the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (345890) BEFORE Order of the Red Banner of Labor (151142)? Would it not make more sense to mount the lower numbered one first?

c) I have seen an influx of multi-suspension lots on E! It looks like the dealers figured out that it is probably cheaper to import just the medallion part of an award and then mount it on a (less popular) "multi-suspension" suspension.

Just a thought...

P.S. I think you got a KILLER deal on the lot though! Whether it belonged to one person or not, the value of the single pieces is greater than what the lot went for. Congratulations!

Guys,

I don't believe these medals belonged to the same person, because the ribbons have different "degree" of wear.

Thanks for these opinions yolkin. Yes, I got them for a very good price and I think this medal-bar is authentic and worn as mounted. All ribbons are faded matching the medal-bar/mounting. All overlapping parts are not faded. Was there some kind of regulations about wearing the October Revolution alone? I remember a picture with someone wearing it on a big medal-bar. I'll post it if I find it.

Major,

I have seen October Revolutions on genuine bars and there are no regulations against wearing it together with the other awards.

If you looks at this bar you will see folds on the ribbons, indicating that they were removed from original five-sided suspensions. It's possible that somebody had used old ribbons to mount the awards on the bar, but highly unusual.

Research an Order of October revolution? RBL? GOOD LUCK! (LOL).

At the moment, there is no chance of researching those orders, UNLESS you KNOW that an awardee was awarded MILITARY researchable orders, and you have the SN of them.

I am 100% sure that this is not a group belonged to one person. I would dismantle the awards and put each of them on a seperate suspension.

I can find NO REASON to keep them together since it is my strong belief that they were put together by the seller.

I think the Major still has a good deal.

But as the question is similar

I saw today a massive group that cleverly had a few genuine medals dispersed on a bunch of fakes and then added on cheapo real medals

i.e. Red Banner, red Banner 2nd award, Fake Odessa etc all to push up the price of two good medals, and sell the cheap ones.

The cheap ones look impressive as a group

I do not think Majors fit quite into this scenario; he has some good medals on a group for a great price.

Get them on individual mountings and you still win

I think I'll let the medal-bar as it is. There is a tiny little chance that it is authentic and if not I have a nice example of a big Soviet medal-bar. And getting the right suspensions for the orders is not very easy. Many thanks for your opinions and comments!!!

I think if it were my bar I probably would still keep them together, because they make such an impressive display, but I'd definately replace the ribbons.

Oh, it's very easy to find the right suspensions for the orders :)
