Ah, my bad, I had no idea. Do you have any other photos or scans (the entire set, documents, scans, anything)?

It's really interesting how these mega sets either disappear somewhere or make the rounds for a while (sometimes losing pieces along the way, sadly).

Nothing else in the collection, including photographs.

The group was never offered in a single piece so there is not anyone to blame for the group being scattered.

As well as being awarded with many portable awards, Avgust was also awarded a number of non-portable table medals that sold for silly money.

Although I only have the single documented item, I am also very happy with the fact that had I not bought it, it would no longer exist.

Can't complain at all.....

It seems I recorded the serial numbers of his Soviet awards, if that would be of interest.

If you look at the reverse of the star in the first post you can see that it was tested for content to be "weighed in".

I was fortunate enough to be not only in the right place at the right time but in a position where the cased Gold Star and documents were purchased for me as a gift.

Of all of the HSLs of Bulgaria this one happens to be one of the most desirable, a fact that a goldsmith doesn't care about.

To date this is the pinnacle of my PRB collection.

As I've said before that's NOT the original "worn" star but one added by a dealer last year.

I'm not by the "awarded" star but it is still in the collection along with some of Avgust's other items.

I got the Star and paperwork a good time ago.
A somewhat dodgy Bulgarian dealer (who also sells fakes) got a few of Kabakchiev's items (mainly paperwork) and then sold them off about a year after I had received the star and paperwork I have in the collection. Another Bulgarian dealer also got a jumble of his awards (table medals, non-Bulgarian stuff etc.) and sold them. Most of the items were bought by an Israeli (at inflated prices) but the "awarded" star and some other items remain in the collection.

I believe the Israeli paid $800 for the "Jumble" of Table Medals and Badges (basically items with minimal appeal) and I know they paid $1800 for the HSL Documents matched to a star.

$1800 for a HSL is about "$1000 over the odds" but the dealer selling it has such a reputation that even other Bulgarian dealers I deal with only have negative things to say about him (even before this HSL came onto the scene).
