Captured Soviet Banners

The following pictures are from this web site:

http://members.tripod.com/~oldflagswanted/soviet.html

Now, my questions:

Was there any known case that captured Soviet flag/banner was re taken by the Soviet during battle?

What about the Soviet occupation of Berlin etc. - did some banners "made it home" - discovered and rescued by Soviet troops?

Soviet standards

Tal,

When a soviet unit lost its standard it was disbanded. Any recaptured were returned to t he Central Armed Forces Museum in Moscow, not returned to the unit.

The top one is a Guards Corp standard, which is odd as I don't know of any guards corps being disbanded. I have my doubts it is a real standard, might be a HQ flag. I have one now for a tank corp and its quite a bit larger in design.

The middle flag is a civilian flag from Ukraine.

The third flag is a 1930's unit flag. can't tellmore then that.

I could be wrong but the first photo makes me think: reenactor. Perhaps someone has seen it elsewere on the net?

Gentlemen,

I also think the first one is a reenactor photo. The banner looks like it's made of some sort of light synthetic material.

That would make sense. I can't comment on the German uniforms, but the standard is just not right. Guards insignia is a bit off, and the lettering is too small.

I also think the first pic is a modern one. Somhow the quality of the picture is too good, and the soldiers looks too old.

Tal

Another re-enactors - in scale modeling....

Just for comparison, here is a real guards corps standard. Really does not match up well with the one in the re enactor photo.

Something don't look quite right about the top picture, it surely isn't 1945 era. One of the guys looks like a guy i served in the army with!

an army marches on its stomach

The soldiers are clearly too well fed. They are also too well groomed. No stubble or dirt on those faces or hands! Finally, the banner clearly appears to be a modern synthetic nylon material.
