Militia / KGB patch ?

Is this patch militia or KGB ?

I'm going off of memory both on attribution and the abbreviation, but I believe this is OMON - Otdel Militsii osobogo naznacheniya - or SWAT-type police.

OMON belongs to the MVD though.

Oh, and its not Otdel, its Otryad.

MVD was interior troops.
Militia was National Police.

I know that, but read the the following excerpt from wikipedia. OMON might have been a militia but it did not belong to the militia.

OMON (Russian: Отряд милиции особого назначения; Otryad Militsii Osobogo Naznacheniya, "Special Purpose Detachment of Militsiya") is a generic name for the system of special units of militsiya within the Russian and earlier the Soviet, Ministerstvo Vnutrennih Del (MVD; Ministry of Internal Affairs).

Just because a name has militsii in it, doesnt mean it neccesarily belongs to militia.

Guys,

I am sorry, but the patch in question has nothing to do with OMON. It's a 1977 Militia arm patch for a dress uniform.

1988 OMON patch was similar, but in stead of the leaves it had "MILITIA" written on it.
