Soviet Science Day

At first glance, I though it was a new BDHX medal, with a wrong ribbon. But it is a NEW medal and the first time that I see it. Not a 5k Znak, but a new discovery (for me).

I bought it on the spot, for......US $8.00 (!).

I think this is very nice medal, and will look nice next to the BDHX medals. And of course, the discovery of a new item is always great!:)

For me its a first time seeing this award too, the only scientific prize I know is the M.A. M.a.r.k.o.v Prize awarded by the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute for Nuclear Research and that has only been awarded twice to non-Russian nationals.
The prize is named after the institute's founder, M.o.isey A. M.a.r.k.o.v, and is awarded each year for substantial contribution to fundamental physics and for development of major research directions of the institute's scientific program. I doubt if it is that?

In a rush, did a very quick search on Soviet Science Day (день советской науки), found this:
День науки
В настоящее время День российской науки отмечается 8 февраля. Но все годы Советской власти День науки отмечался в третье воскресенье апреля, так как в 1918 году между 18 и 25 апреля Ленин составил "Набросок плана научно-технических работ", что явилось фактическим признанием Советами науки. До сегодняшних дней многие научные коллективы отмечают День науки "по старому стилю" то есть в третье воскресенье апреля. В 2007 году праздник выпадает на 15 апреля.
