KGB and MVD jackets.

Hey guys!

I just bought these two!

I have not yet recieved them, but there they are!
An MVD jacket and a KGB jacket.
What do you guys think of them?

And what are the ranks?

Thanks!
Lonny.

Re: KGB and MVD jackets.

kgb jacked is a Senior Lieutenant
and the mvd is a Captain Lieutenant

i saw them too on the big E.
i liked the look of the kgb one, i dont know i have something for that deep blue.
i think they are both okay as is.

im curious what the ribbons may be on the kgb tunic.

kind regards

From left to right, 250th anniversary of Leningrad, 50 yrs of Armed Forces, 20th anniversary of victory in GPW. The order is wrong though. The last one should go in the second place.

BTW, nice jackets, Lonny! I want one of those too! :thumbsbup

Re: KGB and MVD jackets.

The MVD jacket is for a captain; captain-lieutenant is the naval rank of four small stars.

I think the problem appears in more than one army... a land forces captain is not as high ranked as a navy captain. Theoretically the russians could have solved it also by naming "captain lieutenant" to captain 4th rank :)

Are we sure that is MVD? To me that looks like Army, am I missing something?

Re: KGB and MVD jackets.

I'm not too sure myself, it was listed as MVD.
What do you think?

The difference in branch colour is obvious when looking close and comparing, but on this photo, I agree that it is hard to see. I tend to lean toward MVD, if you look at the sleeve stripe, it looks darker than the collar tab and shoulder board colour as it is not affected by possible light from flash. In the worst situation, the jacket is MVD (maroon sleve stripe) with army boards, but if the whole jacket would be army, you would still have a good army jacket with no need for changes.
