Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
I really don't like making determinations based on low res pictures, but the medal looks OK to me.

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
Here are two from the same seller (who just happens to have other things like two Hero of Labor awards). Unless someone is selling off a collection then I find it difficult to believe that one person is selling all of these very, very scarce awards at one time.
He does say that the original suspension on this one was replaced and enamel repair was done to it. I still have my doubts when somebody can sell both types of the medal. Phillip

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
And the other one. I know the pictures are not very good.
Perhaps the seller is selling off a collection. On top of that, the bidding started on everything at $1. Maybe that doesn't mean anything, but I find it strange. Phillip

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
Phillip,
This is a scarce medal, but definitely not a rare one (unless when fully original T1). That being said, on the first one, the suspension is clearly fake; as to the medal itself, difficult to tell for sure with such pictures, but it could be OK. The second one tends to generate a positive feeling, but once again, with such pictures, it could almost as well be a pink koala... Marc |

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
As a wartime/pre-war cloth collector, I have a bunch of reproductions...some better than others. What catches my eye on these is that there appears to not be even a trace of gold gilt on the "XX" which is the case on all of my repros. I have one genuine piece, regretfully remounted as on newer 5-sided, but you can still see traces of gilt on the side edges of the "XX" (though rarely, from what I've seen in pictures, on the surface itself)

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
Hi everyone,
Does this 30th Jubilee medal look okay? Also can anyone tell me what the incorrect ribbon is on this medal? I've looked around but can't seem to find a match. I think the thin stripes are white but its hard to tell whether the ribbon is faded or dirty. Thanks, David. |

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
1. newer saw a fake of those, no reason. But better pictures of the medalion would be great.
2. Wrong ribbon Юбилейная медаль "30 лет Советской Армии и Флота"

The ribbon if yellow is obviously an Order of Lenin. If white it might be the imperial Order of St. Stanislaus. One way to check for dirt or fading is to gently lift up the right side of the ribbon and see what's underneath on the left ribbon that's been out of the sun and dirt for 50 years or so.
