re: Marshal USSR cap real?

Tretov will have things to say about it...the color looks a little off (maybe just the way it was photographed), and it at best looks unissued.

re: Marshal USSR cap real?

okay , unissued sure indeed.

the color looked off to me too especially the gray (walking out) top.
but my pick is that it is the way the foto was made.

we will hang in here and wait for tretov.

Re: Marshal USSR cap real?

The top looks a bit dark, but that could well be the way it was photographed. The embroidery is for sure not the worst type fake, and I would personally consider adding it to my collection. It looks to be in a very good condition, I would thus lean towards an unissued specimen. The cap badge is also correct.

With cloth items, it cannot be enough expressed how valuable it is to examine the item by hand, touch - feel - smell. Especially expensive high-end items like this one; even if it is late issue and not a wartime piece.

I have one of the same type in my collection but I am not home right now and cannot make any photographs until wednesday.

Re: Marshal USSR cap real?

I've seen this circulating on E, I believe it is selling for some small fortune.
I too thought the top looked darker than it should but I just figured it was a bad picture and what not.
I don't think it is a fake, I mean comparing it to some new Ukrainian fakes of the same cap, there is no contest, it looks authentic.

Re: Marshal USSR cap real?

I saw this cap on e! too, and it is priced in the level that it would be "ok" for me to give it a try given that it seems ok based on a remote examination. We all have different levels of acceptable risk-taking and I can only tell what I think and what I would do. If I had the spare money, that is :)
