Russian Parliament did away with Revolution day on Nov.7th. Now Russian workers get offon Orthodox Christmas. Boring!

Actually, 7th November remains a holiday, it now commemorates the 1941 Parade (which itself commemorated...). The more things seem to change, the more they remain the same!

It might remain a holiday per se, but the russian government no longer recognizes it as an official state holiday with a day off, etc. They replaced it with christmas recently. I'll try to find the BBC link to the story.-dd

Doug,

7th November was cancelled as an official holiday commemorating the October Revolution. Instead, a new holiday was created on ... 7th November, this one commemorating the 1941 Parade on Red Square. It is a true holiday whith a day off.
