Eric,

These Polar Stars aren't faked at all. I've never seen any fakes.

Congratulations, beautiful piece. I noticed it myself, and kicked myself for buying the same order (type & variation) just the week before only with much higher SN (18xx), leaving me no money for this piece  . It's a beautiful piece, treasure it, and if you get bored of it...you know where to find me ;)

William,

They are faked. A well known site of fakes / copies proposes a number of faked mongolian orders, with SN... :(

Hi Christophe,
If we're thinking about the same site, then I don't think they sell fake Mongolian orders. They pretend to sell original Mongolian orders, and reproductions of amongst others Soviet stuff, and IMHO what they propose looks fine, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. :o

Jan,

Maybe you are right... By reading closely their site they effectively say :

" Awards of the Mongol People's Republic.
In this section you will find ORIGINAL!!! awards of Mongol People's republic. Most of the items presented here were established since 1939 till 1990. The Orders are made from precious metals - silver, gold and even platinum. In spite of very small amount of awardings, Mongolian decorations are very inexpensive at this time. The high quality and use of precious metals in the manufacture of these awards, delights collectors. Also here you will find a lot of Mongolian Military and Commemorative medals."

Maybe are we becoming paranoid... These awards, with Umalatova awards, would be the only real awards they sell...

Moreover, I don't know if some Members of the Forum have already bought Mongolian orders to this site... If yes, it would be interesting to compare the SN. Are they all different ? Or in some way similar ?

Ch.

Christophe,

I tried, emailing them but never got a reply!
Also tried their European representative in Europe (Germany), got a reply but the prices are not exactly the same as listed on the site :(
Also they don't accept PayPal...

They say that these pieces are no replicas/copies, right.
Anyway, paranoia or not, their pieces seem a bit too perfect to be true, I don't know what to think about that!...
Have you noticed that Jan? What do you think?

Best,

Dolf

It is only a matter of time before Mongolian fakes flood the market. The real ones are beautiful pieces, so let's pick up the real ones before nobody can tell the difference any more! :hurl

Jan,

What do you think of this one?
Is it a T3V2 or a T3V3 ?

Thanks,

Dolf

I think looking at the pebbled reverse and the SN, it is a V3

Best regards
