The Best Bargain as a Collector

Carrying on from the below thread has anybody had one of them moments when they discover something really valuable going for pennies?
I had one the other month while going past a 2nd hand shop. My girlfriend noticed some Soviet badges in the window and I went in to have a look. At the back was a Naval infantry uniform, wave-green major's parade uniform, white naval uniform, various berets and caps, helmets badges, shoulder boards and belts etc. all Soviet. A real mountain of gear. The bloke in the shop did not know how much to sell them for as he was not the manager. He was going to be in the shop in three days. They were the longest three days I can tell you. I went in there on the thrid day and he wanted £200 for the lot. There was about £600 worth of stuff altogether and I had to make two trips to get it all out. I resold a lot of it but kept the most valuable bits....ahhhhhh

well done! As I didn't knew the first day when all was not expensive, it is now quite difficult to do some good bargains. A good one, not later than last sunday at the flea market in Paris: not soviet stuff at a known little polish dealer...but he said to me: do you collect other countries? he got out a packet full of bulgaria, poland, tchecoslovakia and mongolia. Result: a mongolia med with box, a tcheco KGB medal, one rumania, 2 hungarian and a OGPW 1985 with doc at the prices before 2000! One year too, a dealer from Kiev sold to me for 100 eur the complete uniform of one of his neighbour: M58 service jacket, the visor cap, parade visor cap, 3 pants (one winter), field visor and pant and jacket...all the same grandpa, with an old tramway ticket in one of the visor cap...I was pretty happy!
My best bargain of all times: in a collector meeting in Paris suburb, a guy specialized in french stuff didn't really knrew what he got from an auction on a legacy: for 60 euros a yougoslav order of the national banner, 5th class, star, ribbon, box and diploma (presentation card format, to a former french diplomat it seems). 900 exemplars for each of the 5 classes of this order...Scarce and nice piece!

Open to argeument

Open to argument, here is a cosmonaut badge (100 dollars)

Either my best find or a fake.

However, all those who have made critics have not shown a real badge and are guessing

I have only been collecting soviet stuff since July so I havent had the opportunity to clock up any huge bargains so far.

My best deal was a liberation of belgrade medal for £35 ($55 roughly) from Ebay the seller had made a mess of the listing putting the wrong picture down on the listing and also had to correct the description which was inaccurate. I think this put a lot of people off.

I knew he was reputable so I was lucky enough to get a good deal.

I got an Order of Service to the Motherland 2nd class and three screwback mongolian orders (russian made) for $200. I of course was a little sceptical of the 2nd class, but PMD authenticated it. I figured the Mongolian orders were worth this even if the Motherland proved to be fake.
