Medal "In Memory Of The 1000th Anniversary Of Kazan".

These pictures are of the 1000 Year of Kazan medal in my collection, and the scan is of the award document. I purchased the medal+document set in Kazan this spring, where I saw several others at the market for sale, but all except this one did not have matching documents. As the decree states, these were widely awarded for the grand celebration - my landlord, who is a processor of economics and chemistry, received one for her work as well.

These Medals tend not to migrate westwards but good things come to those who wait.

Unfortunately heavily faked more recently in poor quality, this original piece is the pride of the Saint Petersburg Mint.

This Medal was cancelled by Decree #1099 of 7th September 2010, giving the window of award a period of just over 5 years.
