oooops....

Thank you SO much for this info: may I ask the reason why it is forbidden?
And what about badges? I've see some minor ones sold by an itinerant seller at a local fair...

thanX

Simply because it's a crime to export national values and in Russia most of the items 50 years old fall into the category of ' the national values'.

For items pre-1945, I believe you have to pay a tax equal to the value of the item and present those papers in Russian customs. You'll have much better luck in the markets and shops of the "other" countries of the former USSR. Just be careful of fakes, which are abundant.

You definitely don't want to end up like this guy! http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...ny-russia.html

I searched ebay.co.uk, .com, .fr and .de seperatley. You just need to learn how to spell "soviet" or "medal" or "badge" &c. in those three languages.

Crimean trip - Need advice

Hello,

I will be in Crimea in few weeks and I plan to make a 2 days stop in Sevastopol. Do you guys have any advice on things to visit related to the Great Patriotic War. Is Balaklava worth a detour?

Thanks for your help!
