OUTRAGOUS price and missleading description:

"soviet cosmonaut wings

3ND CLASS type 3. soviet era class 3 type 3.. POST WW2. wear on tips of wings. mint marked on back see photo's. kosmonavt = kosmos navt as in aeronauvt aeronaut. cosmonaut wings (astronaut in english). VERY NICE SHAPE. seldom seen."

And the start price: $125.00 - or $200 if you are stupid enough to use "buy it now" option.

I'm not 100% sure, but aren't these very rare? If this is authentic, maybe this price is not so bad. I think the originals are constructed of Gold bullion wire?

The problem is how do you tell if it's real or not?

Gentlemen,

This price would be a bargain if the badge was genuine. Original ones are almost impossible to obtain, besides they made some many fakes, no one is taking them seriously.

Right, that would scare me away from it unless I was sure where it came from. It doesn't appear to constructed well enough to even remotely be genuine though..

I am not sure that these are fakes per se.

The quality matches that of the other wings - pilots, navigators, flight engineers, space troops, etc.

I have never seen genuine ones with issue book or in a museum but I would be surprised if they were of a very different quality.

I think this is a case of a genuine badge of which several dozen or even hundred examples were made for official use and thousands and thousands made for sale to collectors.

This same thing seem to be true of the white higher school "academy" badges. They are really being made by the same factory but are unissued ones pumped out for sale.

Either way, not worth much money.
