I saw this book on ebay. here are the details:

I find this very interesting...........if you read the inside flap of McDaniel's book, Comprehensive Guide to Soviet Orders and Medals, published in 1997, this book on E-Bay states word for word what Paul's does!!!!!!!!! Seems like a copyright infringement to me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I handled this book personally, wouldn't have bought it even for $20. Not only information is absolete or naive, to say the least, but also, lots of "stolen" information, no pictures of reverses of the orders, plus... many images are actually stetches, and not from actual awards!! And this is when so many other books were long out, plus a wealth of much better and up to date info available on the web???
Just to put a "control shot" - to fill-up pages, the authors decided to have this book in 3 (!!!) languages - Russian,English and German...

I had the opportunity to browse this book, and I totally agree with Alex. Only the front side is shown, no variations are illustrated. IMHO it is a complete waste of money.

Just saw this new book in Russian store in Brooklyn.

I have mixed impression about this book: it's quite detailed, filled with useful info (at first glance at least), there are plenty of photographs of not just awards, but various documents as well. Covers both Republican and Soviet awards.

The negative: illustration are of low quality.

The guy in the store wanted $120 for the book.

I have the book and paid dearly for it.

Got it on ebay and was totally disappointed.

The quality of the photographs are poor and the book offers little if nothing on any variations.

Also, there are no photos of the reverse of each medal.

When I bought the book the seller indicated that it included variations.

I paid much more than $120.00. I was under the impression that it might have been an updated version if PMD's book. Wrong!!!!!

The book is 351 pages long with only 207 page devoted to the medals themselves. The remainder are photos of order books and nine pages of poor quality photos. Fourteen pages are devoted to the index, so that tells you how many pages are of the medals themselves.

Why can't we talk PMD into an updated version of his book? I would be first in line to purchase if made available!

I would be willing to pay $20-40 for this book just for the fact that I buy all books published on the medals collecting subject.

The sellers are out of their minds to ask $120+ for the book like this.
