The owner of this Red Star bought it and the horseshoe comes out because some of the rivets were broken. On the later types the horse shoe is soldered on.

Are you serious about the $1,000? I picked up a really nice one not long ago here in Tbilisi, my first one ever. I showed it to Shiloh. I paid around $200 and I thought "This is WAY over-priced." Yeah, then I saw the $1,400 one on the New Jersey site, but I thought that was some kind of mistake. I'm not a Red Star collector, I bought it mostly for the curiosity factor. But I've never been THAT curious.

Another day in paradise.

Yep Chuck, it is so! Check with the dealers here (Alexei, Alex S., etc.) and you will see that $200 is a STEAL at today's prices. The way things are going, $200 is a near-future rate for lower number screwpost base "Monetniy Dvor" variations.

By the way, I would like to officially (all you fellow collectors here please note and do not even think about out bidding me  ) offer you $300 for each "kosher" 3-rivet variation or Mondvor or even Goznak ( ) variations.

I know, I know... I am due to wake up in a few minutes, right?

This is quite a surprise. Not bad when you are an occasional seller like me, but just awful when I try to add to my own collections. One of my good Georgian friends here has Red Star #4050. It is the highlight of his large Red Star collection. No Goznaks, though. Still never seen one.

I just bought a 1914 presentation shaska with a great history. Not appropriate for this forum, I suppose, but one of those finds that just makes you feel good about the hobby. I have picked up 4-5 really nice early badges that I will share when I get home, plus the usual boxes full of little things.

You know, I have a room fulll of things back home that I simply haven't had the time to offer for sale or really do much more than a cursory organization. Heck, even in the themes I do collect I can't say that all is in the order I would like. Could prices really be going up that fast? Sure, I read the threads, but I guess I haven't really believed everything I read. This is quite amazing and it tells me how far out of touch I have been being here most of the last 3.5 years.

High serial number piece, no reason to fake this. Nice, authentic piece.

And welcome to the Forum Lingqi!

Thanks, mates!
A dealer offer me a red star with document for about us$150, "USSR Order of the Red Star with matching book dated 1943 and corresponding number 2591704." Because I have not got pictures yet, do you guys think is it a fake according to descriptions by dealer? and is it worth $150?
Cheers!
