I would have to look it up but it appears to be the battles along the banks of the Neva river near Leningrad, an integral art of the defence of Leningrad. Nice document to a member of the 20th NKVD Rifle Division.
The 20th was originally the 20th NKVD Railway Division consisting of the 7th, 8th and 9th NKVD RR Regiments. In September 41 it was renamed the 20th NKVD Rifle Division. It fought near Leningrad from October 41 to August 42 when it was renamed the 92nd Rifle Division of the Red Army. It then had the 22nd, 203rd and 317th Rifle Regiments. Do you know was the 20th in Hanko (Gangut) naval base in period after winter war 1940 to the next war between Finland-Soviet Union?
What were excatly these railroad divisions/regiments, for example have they artillery (rail road) ? Regards, Jussi-Pekka |
