Laureate Prize Of Soviet Trade Unions Named Orlov, Petr Semenovich
I keep this Trade Union Laureate Medal No. 1442 (No. not visible in scan) with these medals because of its similarity. Size: 25 mm.

The document. Its is on sale on E! but asking price is $199.00.....
And now for questions: 1. How many awarded each year? 2. When it was established? 3. Was there a cash prize also? Thanks.

Re: Trade Union of the USSR Prize
I have never handled these medals, but could we possibly get some system here:
These are medals for achievements within a particular trade union - does anyone know how trade unions became associated with the name printed on the certificate, I mean The Remium Named After So-and-So? A simple search on 'премия советских профсоюзов' seems to be useless. I understand that heavy-machinery and military-related trade unions were more important than, say, a union of window clearners, but those were the ones least likely to issue their premium medals, I guess. Does anyone else here get the impression that the collectors are being manipulated into acquiring very iffy objects by someone with a powerful press? I am in a difficult mood today. Sergei |

Re: Trade Union of the USSR Prize
Alright, it was a friday night, I had a bad day and no time to research, but I guess the question is: there used to be hundreds of Trade Unions in the former USSR. Each of these was entitled to issue a medal 'in the honour of ... someone or other'.
What I am seeing now on the e-thing, a seller with a bunch of reproductions (advertised as genuine) offering one of the Trade Unions medals which, to me, look indistinguishable from other medals of the same caliber posted here previously. The medals are all very shiny, very new, if you will. I have to be sceptical! I admit that I have never handled one of such medals and I may be very, very wrong! Please do post here your own experiences regarding the overall 'feel' of such awards. Obviously, I have no intention to put a 'spot of blame' on any seller or any particular item. Sergei |
