This is a well worn 5 year service medal most likely from the late 60s early 70s.

Of note it has been coated in some sort of "varnish" at some point to stop corrosion the ribbon is also the opposite way round,this means the medal was probably worn by someone who went on to serve in the "volkspolizei".
