Some nice images
...of Imperial troops. A couple of nice medal bars along with major-league moustaches and beards!
Flavorwire Surprisingly Fabulous Russian Army Fashions of the 1890s

Re: Some nice images
The fork bearded veteran of service in the first photograph has a really impressive bar.
The Grand Duke in the last photograph looks very much like a young Edward VII. Strong genes!

Re: Some nice images
Nice rack!
Is that a partial portrait of Lenin being held up behind the subject?

Re: Some nice images
The chin in the portrait is clean-shaven so I doubt it would be Lenin. Besides, to have one person carrying a Bolshevik painting means the political police (informers) were not far away and this man would be risking life and limb - especially in the 1940s - regardless of the region or republic. At least that's my opinion.

Re: Some nice images
Back to the rack; all four George Medals and all four George Crosses; not bad, not bad at all. He must have been quite the trooper, or the commander's favorite. Any idea what the middle, non-George, medal is?

Re: Some nice images
A well-decorated comrade perhaps roused too early for the awards cermenony as indicated by the bed-head. :chuckle

Re: Some nice images
Is it just me or have I seen this picture somewhere else on the forum recently?

Re: Some nice images
It's from ebay as of right now.
I did get some sort of "vibe" to it as well. But after seeing millions of Russian medal images over the the last 10+ years details tend to become a bit fuzzy.

Re: Some nice images
Here a nice simple post-1910 (probably pre Great War) photograph taken in Konstantinograd (now Krasnograd, Ukraine).
