What would a female militsia parade uniform look like?
I am currently writing a small piece of fiction, a comic script, to be precise. It is in part inspired by Martin Cruz Smith's 'Gorky Park' and my heroine is a Moscow Chief Investigator, like Arkady in the novel. Now, my story is basically just silly fantasy, but I'd like her uniform to be at least plausible.
So, my question is, what would a female militsia parade uniform anno 1974 look like? Most of the story she'll be in civilian clothes, but I'd like her to receive a medal at the end. I hope my uneducated question is not considered too off-topic for this forum. If so, I hope somebody could point me somewhere more appropriate. |

The VV was an element of state security that prevented internal disorder that threatened the state's political stability. The VV supplemented the militsia in crowd control, and guarded strategically important infrastructures. And as an armed force, its rank-and-file were drawn from the national 2-year conscription call up. Normal day-to-day civil law enforcement was left to the militsia. I don't think militsia had any conscripts. This may be a simplified distinction, but here goes ... Moscow/Tblisi/Kiev demonstration -- truncheoned by the VV Speeding ticket -- ticketed/extorted by the militsia |
