G’day gents!!
I would like your opinion about this Bravery in a Fire Medal.. . The observe looks great to me, with nice and smooth surface, but I’m worry about the reverse… if you notice the whole theme on the reverse is not aligned with the eyelet… You have to rotate the medal about 10° counter clockwise for the theme to be vertical…. Is this a variation or just another copy?? This medal is definitely not a cast made medal but a coin made one…
I attached 2 pictures of this medal and on the second one, look the position of the eyelet in comparison with the theme’s position…
The weight of this medal without the connecting link is 16.55 grams, the diameter is 32.11mm and thickness at 6 o’clock (on the rim) 2.80mm
Thank you very much in advance for your help!!
All the very best!!

Re: Fake Medals for Bravery in a Fire

With these pictures a discussion is nearly useless.

This is just a guess. It ´s a fake? I don´t like the sickle grip.
Could also be a bad angle picture.

best regrads
Andreas

Re: Fake Medals for Bravery in a Fire

Snameni-

I'm comparing your medal to mine which I bought in Berlin in 1995 from a reputable dealer. Mine has the same relation of the ring with the top of the fireman's helmet as yours, unlike the Mondvor example on their site. Mine too is a good quality minted medal of the proper weight and dimensions. So, I tend to think that both yours and mine are originals although I find the left hand of the fireman on your pix to be different from mine, which matches the Mondvor example . . .

Re: Fake Medals for Bravery in a Fire

The surface looks strange to me, or is this only a picture problem?
The surface looks like a bad casting.

best regards
Andreas

Yes, Andreas, it does, unfortunately...even some "crystallized" areas under the microscope, of the fast cooling probably :(

Thank you!
