Correct. And while the rules were sometimes violated before 1991, all we need to do is look at almost any post-1991 photo to see the flagrant disrespect with which 'the rules' are now viewed.

It is one thing for an elderly veteran to play sloppy with things, it is quite another to see a serving senior officer insinuate twaddle into his group.

How do I wear these?

Good luck cos I have no idea....
Right, things are pretty straightforward:
. Umalatova and veteran baubles have no official right to exist, as they are not officially recognized awards, so they are out of the equation and should not be mixed up with the real ones.
. Belarus, Ukrainian medals and orders are official foreign orders, and must be worn according to the official Georgian order of precedence (usually, they tend to come after the local ones)
. Official Soviet stuff must be worn according to the official Georgian order of precedence (most likely, after the new official Georgian awards, but that must be checked)

The main thing here is to stop thinking that because it has a suspension and an accompanying piece of paper, it is a real award. The list of awards is clearly defined by each country, as well as what can and cannot be worn when awarded by foreign powers. No need to reinvent the wheel every time or to throw smoke screens all over the place. Go to the source: a country's official order of precedence.

CtahhR,

It may surprize you, but there are not so many official awards. The bulk is what is peddled all over the place by various individuals/organizations and make up, in my opinion, close to 85% of the whole thing.

Re: Correct sequence for campaign medals

Going by the post-1991 state instituted awards by each and every post Soviet nation there are hundreds.... many of which are not even represented on this forum (unfortunately). Then you have your official "ministerial" awards and over a good few of the post-Soviet nations that soon adds up....

Looking at this situation through Russian eyes there are FAR more bits of shiny "junk" than awards instituted by those voted in to be able to do such a favour. If a day goes by without a new "organisational" award someone is missing a trick!

I have noticed that very frequently it's a "do what you feel" affair when veterans wear their awards when not in service....

Got to this end of this without mentioning "unrecognised" states.....

Well, there are lots of badges for excellence, good farming, etc. But they are not considered awards.

Re: Correct sequence for campaign medals

I was refering to only "state sanctioned" Orders and Medals. There is of course now the RF Medal "For Agriculture". Less the Ministerial Medals or other nations Medals.... Even within the Russian Federation the order of predence depends upon which ministry you are serving in at the time.

Now, that is an interesting statement  Could we know more precisely where you found this information?

Re: Correct sequence for campaign medals

I believe it was the EMERCOM site... If you do have the correct as of 1/1/12 order of precendence of the Russian Federation (Federal and ministerial) awards I would much apperciate it. When I say "ministerial" I would refer to actual "Ministeries" such as Defence, Internal Affairs and EMERCOM, not the awards of the Russian Orthodox church!

No spiral here, "Just the facts, Ma'am" ;)

So, in order to end this silly discussion, this resource provides written black on white all the specifics about the wearing order of Federal, Soviet, Ministerial and Organizational awards
