Re: Glory III, 493391, Sniper
Hi Tommy!
It's interesting that you are asking about this because, according to Poirier's book, the 191st Rifle Division "may have been on the Leningrad Front" between 1942-1943. While the book has details for 1941, 1944, and 1945, it's unclear about the exact location in 1942 and 1943. As for the 59th Army, the book just mentions "Volkhov Front" for that period 1942-1944. Here are more details about the 191st Rifle Division and what units it belonged at different dates: - July-August 1941: North Front - September-October 1941: Leningrad Front, as part of 8th Army - November-December 1941: with 4th Independant Army (not assigned to a specific Front) - January 1942: Volkhov Front, as part of 4th Army - February 1942-February 1943: Volkhov Front, as part of 2nd Shock Army - From March 1943: Volkhov Front, as part of the 59th Army - From September 1943, was part of 14 Rifle Corps, in 59th Army, Volkhov Front Now you may be able to find some maps showing more precise locations of any of those units. Good luck! :thumbsup |

Re: Glory III, 493391, Sniper
It seems he would not have fought directly in Leningrad, but around it and was particularly involved in the "Operation Iskra", which succeeded in opening a land corridor to Leningrad from the Southern shore of Lake Ladoga (see Operation Iskra - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
As for maps, the 191st Rifle Division is identified on those two maps as of January 1943: - http://www.armchairgeneral.com/rkkaw...W/Iskra_43.jpg - http://www.armchairgeneral.com/rkkaw...an11-30_43.jpg |

Re: Glory III, 493391, Sniper
From Charles C. Sharp's order of battle series:
[...] From early 1942 until February 1944 the 191st Rifle Division was in the Volkhov Front, mostly under the 59th Army near Novgorod. However, in January 1943 it was assigned to the 2nd Shock Army for the "Istra" Offensive that broke open a land route back into Leningrad. [...] |
