Blood type patches on Spetsnaz uniforms
I saw several pictures of Spetsnaz men in uniformes, with 3 Black patches on the shirt:
"Spesnaz" in Yellow letters over Black background - on the right side over the pocket; and 2 patches with the blood tupe (Like A) and Rh factor over the left pocket. When those patches were introduced?

Tal,
just a bit of info at the moment, they seem to be oviously post Soviet though. Blood group chest patch colours: Black - (Spetznatz, Army, Omon security forces) Blue - (Paratroops, VDV). There are also Camo type patches as in your pic and the plain Olive Drab ones. Eddie.

I had a question, If my blood type is A how do I find out about my Rh factor?
What is the Rh factor? Thanks, Rusty.

What is the Rh faktor
Hello Rusty,
the Rh factor is nothing else than one teeny-weeny protein which is sitting at the red blood cells. This signifies that people Rh positive have this protein at the red blood cells and people Rh negative have not! regards Andreas |

I don't know if this is specific to european countries, but we use this with a far more simple symbology, as : A-, A+, B+, AB-, AB+, O+, etc...
This, which is used for car racings, or car rallies, would be more convenient for a patch, in my opinion. Ch. |

A Blood test with your local Doc would be the easiest way to find out about your rh factor. It is actualy fairly important to know as receiving the wrong rhesus factor f.ex. in a blood transfusion can cause an immunological "transfusion reaction", resulting in hemolysis, anemia, renal failure (kidney failure), shock, and death. Rh factor is named after the Rhesus Monkey where the factor was first identified and a substance in the red blood cells of most people which causes the production of antibodies in the blood. Christophe, the British Army use the system you mentioned unless it's been changed over the years it was on my dog tags, in Germany it's the same. Eddie
