Books of Honour
I have discovered an interesting source of information on the polish awardees - the books of honour. Untill recently, I thought that only "Honorary Book of Soldiers' Deeds" existed, but I came across a diploma congratulating an entry to the Civil Defense book of Honour and started to look for that particular book. Haven't found it so far, but on my search I have discovered that many others existed - probably for Each ministry.
I will publish the name lists from every aquired book in the "awardees database" thread. So far, the most interesting seems to be "Book of Honour of the distinguished for the mining and energy industry". It has information on each year's: Awarded with "Distinguished Miner" title; Awarded with "Distinguished Energetician" title; Awarded with "Distinguished teacher" title, butonly in relation to the minining and energy industry schools; Institutions of the ministery awarded with state orders; People with exceptional merits for the industry, honoured with an entry in the book. The photographs of the people are of low quality, but some are amazing - especially those of some highly-decorated miners in their parade uniforms. |

Re: Books of Honour
Here are 3 examples:
- 1987 "Book of Honour of the Distinguished for the Construction Construction Materials Industry, Spacial and Communal Economy". Lots of ministeri alofficials, architects, scientists and construction workers here. This book of honour existed since 1984, but I don't know if this one contains only the names from 1987 or also from the earlier years. 162 people are listed here. - 1985 "Book of Honour of the distinguished for the Mining and Energy Industry" I have 3 from consecutive Years - 1985, 1986 and 1987. Hardcover, but the photographs are ofbad quality. - 1975 "Honorary Book of Soldiers' Deeds" - the lists of the people from it is already in the "awardees database" thread. The first picture shows the interior of the second book - some of the photos with uniformed and decorated miners are amazing, but they are unfortunately printed in bad quality. Each of the entries features hero's photograph, birth date, a function description and short professional biography with the list of most important awards. The second is the Construction industry book - here the data are similar, but there's only a photograph, birth date and bio. |

Re: Books of Honour
And the last one, from the military one - printed on the best quality paper, with good quality photographs, gives name, rank, function and a short bio.
Btw. on the right page, this is the highest-ranking woman in pre-89 Polish Army - colonel of the justice service Eugenia Kemparowa (altough she wears a male uniform). |
