Aleksandr Nevskij.

These are weights of orders I've collected over the past 2 years. I'll post one thread for each award. All were weighed with the screwback off. I use a Pocket-Tech digital scale by Gram-Precision. Some were weighed over a year later to check the accuracy of my results and all were 100% accurate.

Order Name/Class-----Serial Number------Weight in grams

Nevsky 20956 40.4
Nevsky 35332 37.9

So as a non order specialist I have to ask - what is the stuff around the screw post - at first glance it looked like signs of sand casting, but that can't be right.

You can find these marks on Orders of the Patriotic War too. I think these are part of the solder which attached the screw.

I just bought this beauty. The weight is nearly exactly 40 grams.

Gentlemen,

Keep in mind that there are so many minor variations of screwback Nevsky's (flatback, concave, near ring back, near starback, etc.), that don't meet weight criteria specified in the books. According to the specs it should weight 40.8 +/- 1.7 gr, so this one is OK.

Majorpayne:

Congrat's !!!

It really looks like a nice piece!!!

Out of the big awards (Suvorov, Kutuzov, BK) this one is nice and big! :D

Nevsky was my first major Order purchase and I loved it...
Then I bought Suvorov3 and it was so small... :(

Anyhow... Enjoy!

Rusty.
