Academy Of Social Sciences Of The Central Committee Of The Communist Party Graduate.

Thanks to Larry ("tshirtlarry"), I finally have that "AON" badge I've had regular postings for in the WTB section of the Marketplace ever since I joined the forum over a year ago.

According to what I've read, this graduate badge is from the "Academy of Social Sciences of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union."

Anybody have any insight into who would attend this academy and why? Or better still, what type of career would they be gearing up for by attending and graduating from this institution?

This is probably the academic graduation badge I have sought out the most for the longest period of time. Three cheers to Larry and his "magic drawer.":clapclap:bigthumbsup

Thanks Esteban. It's solid brass, but the enamel in the Kremlin tower has an interesting "beaded" look to it. Considering I had only seen this one once before and tried to describe it from distant memory when I posted my WTB AON Academy badge, I was very pleased to see it again. Any ideas on whether the name I suggested above is accurate enough or what the purpose of this particular academy was, if not "political science" or party doctrine and the psychology of convincing the masses they are happy when their lives suck? Basically, does anyone know what a graduate from this academy had to look forward to as a career?

Established at 1946 for highest education of administrative, educational, etc. toper positions of Communist party members with university education.
After 3 years of mentioned school candidate get his Master Science or PhD in political education.

Академия общественных наук при ЦК КПСС (АОН), высшее партийное учебное заведение, готовящее теоретических работников для центральных партийных учреждений, ЦК компартий союзных республик, райкомов и обкомов КПСС, а также преподавателей вузов, научных работников научно-исследовательских учреждений и научных журналов. Создана 2 августа 1946. Находится в Москве. Подготовка специалистов осуществляется по истории КПСС, общим проблемам политической экономии, экономике промышленности, экономике сельского хозяйства, мировой экономике, диалектическому и историческому материализму, критике современной буржуазной философии и социологии, научному коммунизму, истории советского общества, истории международного коммунистического рабочего и национально-освободительного движения, литературоведения, искусствознания и журналистики. В 1964 при АОН создан Институт научного атеизма. Всей учебно-научной подготовкой аспирантов руководят кафедры академии. Срок обучения аспирантов в АОН — 3 года. К концу третьего года обучения аспиранты защищают диссертацию на учёную степень кандидата наук. Кафедрам АОН предоставлено право присуждать учёные степени кандидата наук с последующим утверждением Учёным советом академии.
