Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
Hi everybody! What do you think of this red star? It is my first one, just arrived.
The serial number is 2766227, assuming it is a good one, what would be the epoch for this medal? Thanks for the expertise. |

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
It's difficult to say for what it was awarded, but either long service or by the 2 Belorussian Front. Only research will nail it down 100%.

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
I am not sure to understand, desantnik... have you got any information about this particular item, somehow? Can you also estimate in which year it was awarded?
Thanks. |

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
Quote:
Between '44 and '57 one could get an Order of Lenin simply for 25 years service! 20 years would get you an Order of the Red Banner. 15 years netted a Red Star (I think) and 10 got you a Combat Service medal. I could be a little off on the years and specific awards and I apologize for that. I don't have the details in front of me at the moment. Hopefully others here will correct my mistakes. In any event I hope you get the idea; combat awards given out for long service. Some in the military didn't appreciate that and so the powers that be created an award specifically for long service: the Irreproachable Service medals. BTW, desantnik literally wrote the book on Soviet combat awards, their serial numbers and when they were awarded which is why he's making a (very educated) guess as to the specifics of this Order's awarding. See: http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/s...j-schmitt.html If you're serious about collecting Soviet you will really enjoy this book. PM desantnik, he can point you in the right direction. :)

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
Wow -- having slipped out of award collecting I guess I missed the leaps ahead in deducing stuff from serial numbers. Cool :thumbsup

Re: MZPP minted Orders of the Red Star
Order with mint error. The medallion is slightly rotated counterclockwise and the border has fallen off in two places.
Thought it was a nice one so it is now in my collection. :) /Erik Edit: #2155718 for those interested. |

Red Star.
When reviewing my Red Stars I came across this interesting one.
Anyone have any idea what it means?

Re: Seen this before?
Soldiers name? Location where he earned it?
Haven't seen on an order, but I have spotted inscriptions on medal suspensions. |
