Re: Red Star.

My first MZPP Red Star! :)

And it seems they corrected its serial number from 2254488 to 2254438.

Red Star Award Notification.

Here is a 4th December 1952 dated Ministry Of Defence notification to Vladimir Mefod'evich Mal'ko (Владимир Мефодьевич Малько) reading "On your application for information, that your rewarding of the Order Red Star is confirmed by the military commissariat of the Georgian SSR to organise the presentation of your Order, where and ask you to contact."

The reverse of the paper has "3057722 26.08.52" hand written on it. Could that be the number and date of the award?

There is a Vladimir Mefod'evich Mal'ko on podvignaroda with a date of birth 1925 if this were the same person it would be impossible to be awarded for 15 years long service which would lead to the conclusion that it is for a different Mal'ko or possibly for actions in Korea (or something else contemporary).

Neat document.

The number on the back would be the serial number; it fits with the time period. I'm not sure which particular date the one noted is. I've never observed it as a decree date. Could you please post a scan of the reverse?

I don't think there's anything here to suggest Korea or other such contemporary "fun".

Re: Red Star.

Some RS, more or less than 2700000, have an indent on the medallion, but not all ...

Re: Red Star.

Marsino,

The stars themselves and the medallions were manufactured separately, then paired up. It was a matter of "pick one from basket 1 and one from basket 2" and solder them together. So, it is totally logical that there are hits and misses.

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

No worries.
That damage looks very fresh. I think a collector will have been crying or a dealer doing a loss.

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

Indeed, no wear or signs of exposure for any period of time on the once-enameled area, but someone wants rid of this ugly duckling and im happy to give it a new home!
