Kalina, Roman Nikiforovich, Sergeant, Mortarman, 226th Guards Rifle Regiment
As requested by a forum member here is my recent aquisition.
enjoy Brendan:) Briefly the citation for the BM and OG III Sergeant Kalina Mortar Man 226th Guards Rifle Regiment, 74th Guards Rifle Division, 3rd Belorussian Front Bravery Medal February 1945; while fighting for the city of Lodc on January 19th 1945, he was one of the first few to get into houses occupied by the Germans and therefore with his squad they killed 15 Germans while he personally killed 4. Order of Glory III: he distinguished himself during the breakthrough of the German defensive lines on the Western bank of the river Oder and capturing of the city of Berlin on 1st and 2nd May 1945. While repulsing enemy counterattack, comrade Kalina from his mortar destroyed 2 enemy firing positions and killed 10 soldiers and officers of th enemy. During the capturing of the city of Berlin he was always among the advancing infantry and from his mortar he destroyed 3 submachine gun points and 8 soldiers and officers of the enemy. From his personal weapon he killed 5 Germans and took prisoner, 3 soldiers and 1 machine gunner. He was wounded twice.

RESEARCHED ORDER OF GLORY GROUP
Beautiful documented group of Order of Glory III, Bravery Medal, Capture of Berlin Medal, Liberation of Warsaw Medal, Victory over Germany Medal and corresponding documents and research.
