The particular island which was successfully defended was the Greater Ussuri Island. On 14th October 2008 a third of this island along with Korejskij Island, Tarabarov Island, Vinogradnyj Island, Romashkin Island and an island that was previously unnamed but now known as Beidaidao (北代岛) were handed over to China, finally settling long standing border disputes in the area. The memorial base is now in the People's Republic Of China but the plaque itself has been moved as to remain in the Russian Federation. I believe it is currently in Kazakevichevo.
