Unusual general's buttons - fake?
I have recently purchesed a pile of 71 general's buttons. They were relatively cheap and looked like made of brass.
Imagine my surprise when they arrived... The picture tells all, although some of them have better details. They look very much like polish buttons in construction. So mayby a film or theatre stuff... Can they be original soviet buttons? |

Al-Muell,
I have personally never seen such general's buttons, especially for the time period they appear to be. I saw this type of buttons for officers on a few jackets of that period, and they are more the exception than the rule. Marc |

buttons
I have seen buttons like this beofre, they tend to be from 1955-1970 era and also tend to show up for some reason on uniforms of generals in security rather than the army (just from what I have seen).
They are not fake. dd |

Possibly (not likely though), these are of East german manufacture (telling from the shank). Soviet generals stationed in the DDR commonly took advantage of local factories to make products superior to soviet ones.

Al-Muell,
I agree with DougD, I saw this type of buttons only on security organ uniforms. Marc |
