Latvia

As I was repacking the items to send back to the owner, I noticed he saved (and sent to me) the 'records' of e-mails, etc. The one interesting item was the customs form that shows that the stuff DOES NOT come from Russia but from Latvia!! This should be a clear warning sign as this is the capital of WWII German fakes....now they are doing WWII Russian.

great thread

I haven´t bought anything from these guys but the pics on their stuff in auctions looks very good. I have many time opened up e. and runned across their stuff. First happy over finding something new and then backed off knowing their TWO alias!
Best

Embarrassed to say

Having been burned by a DD item exactly as described above, before purchasing an item from DD the moderator, I asked to make sure his alter-ego wasn't DD the ebay dealer. He seemed bothered and upset that I would even suggest such a thing which I took as a good sign.
Having bought a couple of things from the dealer mentioned, I have to back up the concept that some of things that look great on your monitor may not feel quite right when you examine them in hand...including my beautifully stamped tanker overalls (which are old...just not 1943r old).

dealers

I never want me, DougD to be confused with DDA on E. I never put my good stuff on E!

Jeff, can you get a good shot of the stamp on your tanker?

Will do so this evening

Actually looking at the closeup of your hat bands reminds me of some items in my collection. The fact I remember it means I spent sometime studying them to figure out if they were OK. Unfortunately that means my instinct was good enough to make me question them but not good enough to keep me from buying them in the first place.
There is another frequent e-dealer I've bought from whose items either seem just fine or well done modern/vintage mix & matches. I'm not sure if the misses have been intentional or if they were done in good faith as he does not specialize in soviet gear.

Doug-

Thanks for starting this thread. If you can post any more images of the items that came from DDA, please do so. Sadly, I've sold a few items to people who INSIST that they have a date stamp, which either never existed on the item or was washed out after 60+ years of wear...

Dave, Doug, (and all the others),

The joke around town here (St P) is that you can pick up any item you like, and simply order the stamp you want (year, factory, ink color). You'll get your "original" ready for pickup tomorrow.

Such bad and ugly things have been for time. It, pity that american assembler of Soviet things see this present time not in passed years.

There many items of this FUFLO fake things floating in military markets, problem same German things.

not for last word of course, but seller of you write about on the ebay is not alone in deceit. Such dishonest men sell from Europe Britaina and in USA. Exist many shops in Russia Ukraine and more places where makers of this things are the busy hands at usual in all day.

Great information Doug. This is a great start to having a pinned thread on fake cloth.

I remember seeing DDA auctioning away great uniforms back when I only collected medals. I would look at their setups and I always liked them but I did not know much about uniforms so I just enjoyed looking at them and moved on.

As medals became too expensive to collect anymore I started to collect Soviet cloth. So I surfed back to the auction site and started looking at DDA items. But this time I played it right and did not buy anything. What I did do is educate myself on Soviet cloth and then started to buy.

The more I learned about cloth the more and more suspicious of what they were auctioning. Everything was ALWAYS too good; you could not upgrade their stuff. And that always left me suspicious. Who can have that much perfect rare stuff all the time?

With the education I got from this forum, other websites and books I did not make a mistake and buy from DDA. Now I know most of the reputable dealers are and I will continue to stay with those honest/reputable dealers.

Thanks again Doug for taking time to start this thread using photos to show. It is a great primer for what to look for/at. Regards, Clete
