Could anyone please help me identify this helmet? This is a dark olive green helmet made of metal. It is a high bucket style with a short brim. The front of the helmet has an five pointed red star painted on it. The inside liner is composed of a canvas/ oil cloth- like material with holes to adjust the original string for sizing.( Please see photos.) There is the original leather strap head belt which would buckle under the chin. The helmet measures approx. 11" long front to back and is approx. 7.50" tall with a width of 9.75". There are numbers imprinted on the inside of the helmet which I believe read, POCT 2 A013-40R 1867 or 1367 and inscribed into the helmet the printed (engraved) numbers and letter 2J283 or 2 and a backwards C 283 I apologize in being vague with the actual numbers but it is difficult to read. The helmet has three rivets on it. I have photos but they are too large to post but I will happily e-mail them to you if you would like to see them. Thank you.

It would be great if we could see the liner and the chinstrap. I’m not sure if this Soviet helmet is 100% legit. The stamp says it is a LMZ shell, size 2. LMZ stands for Лысьвенский металлургический завод.
The stamp seems legit, but it seems that the Red star was post-war applied. Is the helmet in unissued condition? I’d like to have a look at the liner and the chinstrap to be sure it’s not a post-war shell with fake stamp.

In my opinion, the helmet seems legitimate to me as an SSH39 with an "original when first issued" 1st type of liner.
The only questionable attribute is the star. However, the helmet seems so "crusty" and untouched, that it well may just be OK, as many soldiers applied their own stars at times according to taste... I do not own an Army version of one of these with the 1st pattern liner, but an associate does:
