Navy Parade Uniform
Got this navy parade uniform for a Captain 1st rang a few days ago.
What do you think about it. No stamps inside and no date on the buttons. Only an stamped "M" on the buttons. When was it produced? In the mid 1950`s??? many thanks and best regards Andreas |

Re: Navy Parade Uniform
Cloth is not my specialty, but the shoulder boards and collar suggest 1950s while the mark left by a screwback order on the inside of the left breast side of the jacket suggests the owner had an older style order attached for a very long time.

Re: Navy Parade Uniform
I think the traces on the cloth are from a Red Star and maybe OGPW.

Re: Navy Parade Uniform
If I recall correctly, before 1955 - and IMO, this is a later version with the metal (not bullion) anchor insignia on the cuffs and collar that date from the late 40s, and the raised metal stars on the shoulder-boards that are post 1954...
However, I remember Vadim stated something different about the former... |

Re: Navy Parade Uniform
If I remember correctly, those uniforms were already out of use in 1952.

Re: Navy Parade Uniform
Nice piece. I always like little details like the little flap on the front of the neck liner to keep the hooks from digging into one's manly neck.
My books shows a new navy parade uniform with an open collar in 1955. It was the thing to do, I guess since everyone else was changing. |

Re: Navy Parade Uniform
Let's continue this nice thread by walking into the 1950s. I recently picked up this nice parade uniform for a captain II rank.
The collar decorations are embroidered and the anchors are metal. One small award hole on the left side, where I for the photo added a submarine commander badge, from my own collection. Last edited by Tretov; 01-22-2011 at 02:02 PM. |
