Major-General Engineer Valad Mirdjalal Al-Din was born in 1320 (21st March 1941 - 20th March 1942) and graduated Afghani Military University at the age of 23 before attending a 5 year course in Communications Engineering at Kiev gaining a Master's (The Badge is there to prove it). In 1975 he became an officer in the Afghan Air Force. In 1975 until 1978 he became battalion commander for logistical supply to Bagram Airfield. He was then a political prisoner for a year and then forced into retirement. He was almost immediately recalled to serve at Bagram in the same position. In 1980 he was transferred to the Government Information Service with the rank of Major and left in 1988 with the rank of Lieutenant General to become Minister Of Communications. In 1990 he moved to become the Deputy Minister Of Public Security (the WAD) for a year. Then returned to being head of Telecommunications for another year before retiring. He died in 2009.
