In this context I would translate it as "Border Security."

Slava used a great pic to start a thread on OGPU flags....here is the same standard he showed, but in the Border Troops Museum in Moscow. Great to see a "Then and Now" of the same unit flag!

Two more OGPU Border Troops unit flags from the same museum...I love how one flag has had 'Death to the German Occupier" added to it!

Superb unit flags.

One of the few OGPU flags to go through my hands (a few years ago), this is a great award flag to an air unit of the OGPU.

Great stuff. I really need to get back to Moscow and into some of the museums that did not exist when I was there! Are there any "virtual" or online versions of ones anyone knows of?

Very interesting second flag - haven't seen with смерть немецким оккупантам slogan together with CCCP seal.
