I mentioned in another thread that I recently picked up some original Soviet underwear. For those of us who wonder what was worn under those nice uniforms we collect, here it is :D
Marc PS: Forgot to mention that all these are dated in the early 1950's, but the models did not really change until the late 1970's~early 1980's Summer undershirt (front-back-stamp) Last edited by CtahhR; 10-31-2012 at 10:19 AM. |

Did you happen to pick up a belt? I always wondered what the belts used to hold up pants (not the sam brownie, or strapless em belt) looked like.

Nack,
There were no belts used to hold the pants. These were adjustable with straps and buttons on the sides. In the 30's, 40's and 50's, officers used suspenders, but from the 60's on, they went to the strap and button scheme. Marc |

Hmm, I swear that there are belt loops on the pants I have with my m69 uniforms. I'll have to look at them tonight.
Amazingly I found a pic. These are officer's breeches that came with a M69 rifles col tunic I bought a while ago. You can see the loops for what I assumed was a belt (sorry for the bad pic). Also, I now remember clearly that the M69 AF general's service uniform I have has pants with belt loops too. Last edited by CtahhR; 10-31-2012 at 10:19 AM. |

Marc,
For the enlisted personnel there was a belt - green canvas about an inch wide. I believe there was also a regulation belt for the officers, but they never wore it. Alexei |

A-ha! Thanks Alexei :thumbsup I always suspected there were such belts, but I've never seen one before. I assume that people kept them and used them. |
