Re: Red Bana Jelačića/ Order Of Ban Jelačić
It seems you have some very fine Croatian items in your collection. I need to put a little bit more focus into collecting Croatian awards personally but have made a start.
Just so there is no confusion a "Ban" is an Eastern European feudal title somewhat equivalent to a "Lord" in British terms or "Count" in Central Europe. Who govern the lands. Not the same type of ban as those given to those who can't behave. The last Ban (Ivan Šubašić) died on 22nd March 1955. Josip Jelačić Of Bužim born 16th October 1801 died 19th May 1859 was a general who achieved fame due to his actions in the years of revolutions, 1848 (pushing for Croatian independence) as well as emancipating the Croatian Serfs.

QUOTE] I certainly wish that everything i posted was in my collection, i have to admit these Croatian awards are very attractive. Maybe someday, but for now Soviet, Cuban and British items have priority. Regards Eddie
