I guess what's most troubling is the Russian government says the awards were illegally taken from Russia - not "stolen" mind you, but it is illegal to export Russian awards, including Soviet, so once it crosses a border the Russian government now considers it illegal. Also, no specific examples given, just the reasoning - it was Russian, it's not in Russia, thus it is illegally taken from Russia.
Granted if the recipient takes his own decorations out no problem, but if for example the recipient is dead - the decoration is to forever stay within the borders of the Russian Federation. Apparently Russian citizens shouldn't be allowed to leave either - I better stop or I'll get start getting political... |
