Remains of Suvorv 3rd class order
This is very sad.
Someone is selling medalion (part) of Suvorov 2nd class order. Medallion came from precious metals utility center, meaning they the gold portion of the order was melted for gold content. STUPID PEOPLE, HOW CAN SOMEONE BE SO IGNORANT!!!!! William |

How much do you want to bet that we'll see this again. I'm sure its not too hard to reproduce the rest of the parts.

Very sad.
How much do You think a Suvorov in this condition is worth? Where are they selling it? If it is on ebay it will be interesting to follow the bidding. /Erik |

This is NOT a Suvorov!... This is what some moron left as the remainings of a former Suvorov! IMHO it's worth nothing at all, but the guy who did this, I know what he is worth (nothing that is!) and what he would deserve!!! That's very sad indeed! Dolf Last edited by Dolf; 02-20-2006 at 02:49 PM. |

Melted
Someone told me years ago that there are people buying up Orders of Lenin just to have it melted down for the gold...to make gold teeth.
Yeah, for us collectors, we would freak out at such a thought. For certain folks who lived under Soviet rules for many years, they would rather destroy any symbol of their suffering than to profit from it. I don't know why the guy melted down the Suvorov; he probally had some reason. Nevertheless, I would love to have a gold tooth made from that order. Just think of how you can list that tooth on ebay. v/r Dat |

In Tbilisi I was once offered the remains of two Lenins awarded to the same woman. Yes, the gold had been scavenged for her teeth. I don't think there's much of that going on now, though. Awareness is much higher now than in the past. Chuck |

This is still a rare piece and I can imagine that some people are willing to pay quite a lot for it, even in this state. /Erik |

Are you sure the inner part of the Suvorov is genuine?
