Badge "Ready For Labour And Defence Of The U.S.S.R.".

Hi Folks

I'm not sure what this badge is for exactly I don't think it is just for sport. Has it a political connection?

This is one of the earlier versions and is numbered and mint marked

Cheers Chris

Can someone help me with more information on the "Ready for Labor and Defense" badge?

In the recent stash of documents and a few medals I acquired, there came two interesting certificates (but no badge, alas) for this thing.

====

1-

"Ulyanovsk

"November 4, 1932

"A certification that LAVRINOVICH, Vazlev has passed the requirements for the 'Ready for Labor & Defense' badge as of October 5, 1932.

"This document is to be surrendered when the permanent diploma is issued"

Well, it WASN'T so surrendered . . . .

And he got his real diploma on 9 September 1934 (sorry it is so tiny).

Help?

Hmm, well Ed, what else do you want to know.

You can see an image of the badge on the small document. It hangs by chain from a small square hanger.

Why was the original not handed in?? Error? Or maybe they are for different badges. There were several types in different classes and different designs.

Recent Sports Badge Acquisitions

Here are a few sports badges that I have picked up recently. I had never before seen "Firefighter Sports" badges, center. They are kind of like the military sports badge series. I had also not seen the diving military sports badge before. There must be a bunch around, but I had never run across either.

Boxing badge

Actually, on eBay, and presented as a "Rare 60’s USSR boxing badge".

Not sure if you are still curious about this badge but it is illustrated in Borisov's, # 164 and it is a GTO badge.

Duplicate Sport Badge ?

Hey folks,

Is this a duplicate sport badge or is the "D" part of the numbering system?

"D" 129018

Dat,

I am not sure, but I don't think it's a duplicate. I have also seen serial numbers with "A" and Cyrillic "B".
