Re: Warning: Reproductions!
Thanks for this. While it is disturbing to see the mammoth pi**ing contest that can often take place, it is always good to see evidence emerge for what some say isn't "true". All of us should be always learning, whether we like to admit to this state or not. Those who have stopped learning are simply dead.

Medals 73 put it correctly!
As moderator (and thread starter), I am going to ask us to focus back on those (mostly E found) repros that are coming out of Kiev and, as Marc said, St.Pete. More seem to show up with the same seller each week. DougD |

Re: Warning: Reproductions!
I found this old shot, circa 2000, that shows a real (and rare!) M1943 parade dress generals uniform (Engineering or Signals) on left, and a theater made reproduction on right (Rifles). Not really difficult to see the differences! The belt on the theater uniform is real, just added by me for the photo.

Re: Warning: Reproductions!
Red Star,
When I got in that uniform it came along with two others, of same construction, that had been in a theater. The guy who brought them over thought they were real. There have been some very nice 'finds' in movie houses and theaters, though condition can often be a problem (see my restoration project!). DougD |

Re: Warning: Reproductions!
Here's another probable fake offered on E :thumbsdown.
Look at the shiny buttons and the "super stamp". It's a gimnasterka of a major of medical troops. |

Re: Warning: Reproductions!
And it even seems, that altough it has original m58 shoulderboards, it is not a 60's gimnastiorka restamped, but a repro with very late buttons...
