Supply platoon warehouse leader Guards Master Sergeant Dmitry Yakovlevich Kafanov, in that he effortlessly worked day and night delivering food supplies to the combat units, like to the combat units located near the Komarov Farm on 17 January 1943. The supply unit and field kitchen were located near the Aleksandrovsky Farm. The enemy attacked the Aleksandrovsky Farm, attempting to cut off the combat units from the rear area.

Food supply to the combat units was further complicated by intensive bombing, but due to the leadership and bravery of Guards Master Sergeant Kafanov, hot food was delivered in time at Komarov, where the combat units were located.
