Tovarisch Alexei is Nota Bene. This is his website: RUSSIAN AND SOVIET MILITARIA
(Art, I hope this is OK, after all, you do endorse him on the main site.)
$155 was the price for XX RKKA in 2002. Now, a whopping $595!!! Much more than a few roubles.

They start chasing after eBay, it looks like award is not even real. What's next - pulling listings off eBay???

Why is that even worth a press release? They acknowledge that it's a fake; fakes like that have been available on eBay every day for years now. Wow, someone ought to tell them about the Kutuzov and Khmelnitsky copies that are always available, not to mention Orders of Victory.

Unfortunately, with the two rounds of elections in Russia coming, one this year (I think) and the Presidential one next year, we are likely to see a lot more of this. The issue of patrotism has always been big in Russia/USSR, a bit like environment in the West. A good card to play in the run-up to elections. What I do not particularly enjoy in these publications it's the undertone of 'vile capitalism', 'our history versus profiteering', this kind thing. I hope it's only my imagination.

Red Star in the morning, collectors warning!!!

ok, so there seems to be a test on our local auction site (eB?y) of just what a "Red Star" is worth.

Some guy from Israel has posted 8 stars for sale. Those without damage are priced at $79.99 and those with damage are priced at $49.99.

We shall see if any of them sell. Granted there are two MzPP stars among the lot.

Let the insanity ensue. BTW, I just love the one that is for sale $90.00 and the reserve has not been met. There are several on this forum that will sell you one WITH research for that price.

Guess I am slowly getting out of this game.

I've been eyeballin' those RS's as well, Jeff. I expect them to sell. I'm thinking demand is starting, or will shortly start, to outstrip supply.
The only other factor I can think of the pitifull state of the American economy (mine in specific) might keep some US collectors from bidding.
I wonder what RS are going for on Euro auction sites? (Off to surf eBay.de)

Sometimes things work out ok on ebay

For $61 and a bit of postage, I just got in a red star with a 2M serial number, a nice defense of leningrad which looks real, a pair of private epaulets and a guards badge which, surprisingly, is war time issue.
Probably won't get another deal like that for awhile

Nice score! ! ! Those 40's era Guards badges can hit 30 or more sometimes. Tack on a minimum 20 for a DoL medal and you've got yourself a 15 dollar RS. Keep up the good work (and sell off your extras in the Marketplace here ).
