Kvachantiradze, Elizbar Jasonovich, Engineer-Lieutenant Colonel, Housing Officer

Here is a group to Engineer-Lieutenant Colonel Elizbar Jasonovich Kvachantiradze, a housing officer of the Transcaucus Military District. Not glorious or glamorous but an honest group to a man who served his position well for at least 15 years.

Here is his Order "Red Star" #3517055 and group of unnumbered Medals.

This group was split and reunited with thanks once again to PJS who has been very diligent in helping reunite many a group which has been split in Georgia only to be reunited some time later.

Here is his Order booklet from which we can take the Decree date of 30th December 1956 and know that on this date the decree was for honouring long serving Red Army personnel. If he was awarded it for 15 years service (as was customary) we can deduce that he probably started his service coinciding with the start of the Great Patriotic War and was awarded the Medal "For Combat Merits" for 10 years service somewhere around 1951.

He is not on Podvignaroda so it would seem to be "complete".

His Medal "For Victory Over Germany In The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" was awarded 11th December 1945 with document Ж№0056508 by Housing-Maintenance of Tbilisi Military District. Listing his rank as Engineer-Captain.
The Jubilee Medal "XXX Years Of The Soviet Army And Navy" was awarded 7th October 1948 by the Housing-Management Department of the Transcaucus Military District by which time his was an Engineer-Major.
The Jubilee Medal "40 Years Of The Armed Forces Of The U.S.S.R." was awarded on 7th July 1958 by the same department by which time he was an Engineer-Lieutenant-Colonel.

Finally a pair of Jubilee Medals "Twenty Years Of Victory In The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" and a Medal "Veteran Of Labour". The 8th August 1967 award being issued by his unit with document А№8122366 and the 27th February 1968 award on document Б№1473946 from the Military Commissariat of Georgia.
His 26th April 1979 dated "Veteran Of Labour" was awarded by the Georgian SSR. Surprisingly not a military veteran but civilian.

This is yet another example of why oft-ignored anniversary medals are actually quite important.

I couldn't agree more. I have put a great deal of effort into retaining and researching from the Jubilee Medals. They sometimes can really open up some major revelations yet are so often totally ignored or even discarded. In the last 6 months or so I have been putting a vast number of hours into Jubilee Medal based research which will hopefully manifest itself into an extremely helpful and propagating tool. I am still mainly in the collecting of the documents stage but when I manage to get a few more hundred I can really get the wheels set in motion. With low interest in most jubilee awards and free resources like podvignaroda I have been able to obtain a great deal of documents and information for very little money.
I'm always on the look out for more documents or document groups although I don't mind if it is just a single Jubilee Medal document. Every single one helps fill in a piece of the puzzle and helps towards the great project I've tasked myself to do after inspiration and encouragement from some of the members of this forum. Some folks may know what I'm up to but some may not, never the less it should be enjoyed by all when I unveil just what it is I've been getting up to.

I can't help but adore that Red Star..... Maybe I'll post another researched one?

The Act for his Medal "For Victory Over Germany In The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" show him as the Senior Engineer of the Nahichevan Region. Born 25th December 1913. Serving in the Red Army from 1937 to 12th February 1939 and then from 16th August 1941.
