William, the book may not be worth $20-$40. If you have PMD's book then you have gained nothing by purchasing this book. I was somewhat mislead and I thought that the book was a more up todate version of PMD's book.

Try $180.00! Ouch!

I bought this book when in St Petersburg.
When I was there, I did not remember this thread... If so, I would have probably not have bought it...
Moreover, I bought it wrapped and sealed in plastic, in a "traditional" bookshop. That means it was in a closed cabinet, and I had to ask for it to the shopkeeper, who did not want to open the plastic. In fact, I had to take it or leave it... :hurl

So, I took it, as the risk was not so high : 3600 rubles (around 100 euros).

All that has been said previously is correct.
The text is not so interesting and brings nothing new. The pics are of low quality.
The only interest I can see is that it has a good range of pictures of documents of all orders and medals. This is nice. :) (You know I like a lot I documents...).

I know that 500 copies is really nothing and does not allow economies of scale... but the price is excessive.
